WE’VE SEEN THE SUFFERING caused by gun violence in Illinois

We also know that right now, no community in Illinois is truly safe –  from schools and workplaces, to parades and shopping centers or parks and street corners…no one is immune from gun violence.

That’s why we must act together to ban assault weapons, stop the flow of illegal weapons from other states, and increase resources to help implement red flag laws so all Illinoisans feel safe in their communities, from Chicago to Highland Park to East St. Louis.

ASSAULT WEAPONS HAVE NO PLACE IN ILLINOIS

We know what happens when assault weapons fall into the wrong hands.

Illinoisans have the right to keep and bear arms, especially to protect their families.

But, assault weapons aren’t used to protect. They are made for one purpose: to kill as many people as quickly as possible.

They can fire 30 bullets in just 10 seconds, and hit bystanders over a quarter mile away.
