Protect Illinois Communities Releases New Ad Highlighting Gun Safety Measures Needed to Save Lives

Second ad from Protect Illinois Communities will run in markets across the state

January 4, 2023

CHICAGO, IL - Today, Protect Illinois Communities began airing a new television ad, ‘Take a Stand,’ in several markets across the state calling on legislators to pass the Protect Illinois Communities Act during lame duck session. The ad highlights the commonsense measures to help save lives and prevent mass shootings that must be included in any legislation: ban assault weapons, certify assault weapons, and reduce high-capacity magazines.

Protect Illinois Communities released its first ad last week featuring Mary Dieudonne-Hill, a mother from Homewood, Illinois who lost her daughter to senseless gun violence in 2016. That ad will continue to run in markets across the state.

WATCH THE NEW AD, ‘TAKE A STAND,’ HERE.

Transcript:

We can save lives right now.

But to make a real difference, a new gun safety law must include three things.

First, ban the sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.

Second, require assault weapons to be certified to reduce gun violence.

And third, reduce the number of high-capacity magazines in circulation to prevent mass shootings.

Tell your legislators: it’s time to take a stand.

Pass the Protect Illinois Communities Act now.
